Since our formation, AWCU has worked tirelessly to fulfil the mission of empowering wheelchair users, advocating for their rights and fostering the creation of a barrier-free society. Initiating various activities and services that enable us to achieve our vision and mission. Here are some of the activities and services we offer:
We offer various opportunities for corporate social responsibility, including
sponsoring our events, donating goods or services, or supporting our programs.
AWCU organises advocacy and awareness campaigns to sensitize the community on disability issues, particularly the challenges faced by wheelchair users. We collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organisations, and private businesses, to raise awareness and promote inclusion.
We provide information and referral services to wheelchair users and their families. We assist them in accessing various resources, including assistive devices, disability-friendly facilities,
AWCU provides training and capacity-building programs for wheelchair users and their families. We aim to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their quality of life, including health and rehabilitation services.
Capacity Building: AWCU offers capacity-building programmes to wheelchair users to improve their quality of life. These include training on independent living, personal care, home modifications, and assistive technology.
AWCU provides vital support to wheelchair users, their families, and caregivers through our Monthly Peer Support Groups. These groups offer a welcoming space for sharing experiences, receiving peer counselling, and accessing mentorship on disability-related issues. We also provide invaluable information and referrals to help address specific needs.
We are actively seeking volunteers to make our Monthly Peer Support Groups successful. Your involvement can make a significant difference in the lives of our members. Your contribution is highly valued and appreciated whether you can offer time, skills, or simply a listening ear.
Our Resource Centre remains a cornerstone of AWCU. It provides a wealth of materials on disability-related topics, including books, magazines, and assistive technology. Open to the public, the centre is an essential hub for information and resources.
AWCU is a non-profit organisation initiated in January 2016. We are dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities, specifically wheelchair users, their families, and stakeholders.
